In this review, I’ll be taking a look at the XGIMI Elfin, a mini projector with a lot of portability and power in a small package.
When it comes to projectors, mini projectors are becoming more and more popular. The technology behind a projector has vastly improved over the past 10 years due to improvements in LED lighting. In addition, the built-in speakers have also had a large quality shift.
Today I have the XGIMI Elfin. I’ll go through the features, performance, and build quality. Then, my recommendation on whether or not to buy it!
Features
Starting off with the features of the XGIMI Elfin mini projector. Firstly, it is a mini projector – meaning that it has an ultra-portable lightweight construction (1.98 pounds) perfect for on-the-go use. It has a relatively small footprint and can easily fit inside a book bag or travel bag.
XGIMI uses a 1080p DLP projection source. It has a rating of up to an 150-inch screen and a 600 ISO lumen brightness. Additionally, the Elfin can support HDR 10 content. It can also support 4k content with a 1080p resolution (while it can be difficult to tell the difference on a projector).
Along with your photo content, you also get 2 3w Harmon Kardon speakers. They are paired with DTS and DOLBY to create clear audio. These speakers are built-in and require no extra accessories.
Finally, the operating system XGIMI is running is Android TV. With Android TV 10.0 you get access to basically all of the typical smart TV features including the streaming apps.
Build Quality
As far as build quality is concerned, the XGIMI is extremely well built. It feels incredibly solid in the hands and has a satisfying outer coating texture. The included remote is very sturdy and works well. It’s relatively small and does the job well. It doesn’t have any fancy features, but is a well-built remote.
On the back of the Elfin projector you have a variety of I/O. They include an HDMI port for video input, a USB port for play-back, an audio-out jack, and the power source port. There is also an ample amount of ventilation on the back of the device, along with on the bottom/front.
Another point to make is how well-done the packaging is. The device comes in a very premium feeling box that is neatly packed together. It feels almost like an iPhone unboxing experience. The cardboard used is quite solid and has a soft-feeling texture.
Performance
Finally what you have all been waiting for, how does it perform? Well, let me tell you – I was absolutely blown away by how well the XGIMI Elfin projector performed. It looks incredibly sleek, feels sleek and has the power to back it up.
The speakers, while they aren’t anything special, are spectacular relatively speaking. For a tiny little portable projector, the speakers will blow you away. However, don’t expect any heart stopping base, but the clarity and crispness is there.
The projection itself is bright enough to view in daylight. They have built-in auto-adjust so you don’t have to worry about constantly messing around with settings. It works relatively well, and is simple to use. As you size up the screen, the picture gets a little dimmer. But, for outdoor night use, you should have no complaints.
One of the best parts is, if you don’t already have a projector screen, then you can just use a wall in the meantime. It is plenty powerful enough to project on a lightly painted wall.

In conclusion, I was unbelievably impressed with the performance of the XGIMI Elfin Projector. This little projector packs a punch not only with the sound quality, but video quality as well. Projection is simple and straightforward with this mini projector from XGIMI.
If you were looking for an outdoor projector, then this works great because you don’t have to set up any additional speakers. And, the best part is it is very well-priced for how well it performs.
