V-MODA BoomPro Microphone for Gaming & Communication – BlackThe Setup Guru – EveryHomeTech.com
The Antlion Audio ModMic has really sought to push the standards of microphone quality. The Antlion ModMic is an attachable noise-cancelling microphone that is compatible with Mac, Windows, PC, Playstation 4, Xbox One and other systems.
It attaches directly to your headphones and directly improves the audio quality of your microphone. Additionally, the ModMic 4 and ModMic 5 will add a microphone to your headphones if they don’t already have one built in.
The Antlion Audio ModMic 5 and ModMic 4 are both designed to turn headphones into headsets, produce clearer audio then stock, and be compatible with a multitude of devices.
V-MODA’s response as a ModMic alternative is the BoomPro Microphone for Gaming and Communication.
Who is V-MODA?
They were founded in 2004 by Val Kolton, a professional DJ by trade. His focus was initially on fashion and branding, and eventually V-MODA transitioned into a high-fidelity fashion headphone manufacturer.
In 2007, they worked with Apple to develop the Vibe Duo which was the first third-party headphone for Apple iPhone and iPod. Soon after, the ever popular M-100 over-ear headphones launched and since have been creating custom audiophile headphones.
V-MODA BoomPro Microphone (Gaming)
The V-MODA BoomPro Microphone is a professional-grade microphone. The BoomPro is ideal for communication, voice-overs, gaming and other applications requiring professional mic technology.
In addition, it features enhanced voice clarity and background noise reduction compared to some other attachable microphones. The BoomPro mic is detachable for maximum compatibility and it is flexible to allow for positioning.
They are using a 24K gold plated plug along with a SteelFlex boom arm. The BoomPro has inline controls for volume, muting and an auxiliary button.
Also, the BoomPro should work universally with most over-ear and on-ear headphones along with all of V-MODA’s headphones. The V-MODA BoomPro mic attaches via a 3.5mm jack.

Does the V-MODA BoomPro have better quality than the Antlion ModMic 4 or Antlion ModMic 5?
To begin with, they both sound almost identical is voice quality, but the BoomPro has a volume control and mute switch which gives it an edge. In addition, the BoomPro is also less expensive than the ModMic 4 and ModMic 5.
The V-Moda BoomPro Microphone has extremely good sound quality and voice isolation. Additionally, the noise reduction is very good as well. Compared to a stage studio microphone the BoomPro holds it’s own.
It is designed by real sound engineers along with a team that actually cares about sound quality. They aren’t just marketing wizards attempting to sell something that does not work.

Should you buy the V-MODA BoomPro Microphone vs the ModMic? We didn’t get too deep into the ModMic, but the BoomPro is 100% worth the investment.
If you have been shopping around for a detachable headphone microphone, this is the one! I think the biggest convincer is the price of the BoomPro. It is a phenomenal value for the amount of sound design and engineering you get.
