What Do You Need in a Gaming Chair?

While DXRacer’s and Secret Lab’s gaming chairs aren’t necessary, they certainly do help.

DXRacer Formula Series

Starting off with the “OG” gaming chair, the DXRacer Formula Series. This is one of the world’s first gaming chairs that debuted in 2006. And since, has been a staple in the gaming chair market.

There are a lot of gaming chairs out there, however, DXRacer Formula will always be one of the best around.

Formula Series Features

One of the main features of the Formula series is the lifetime warranty. This chair is guaranteed to last for a long, long, long time. They include a certified class-4 gas lift, 5-star robust base, and 2-inch PU casters for quiet movement.

Additionally, the Formula chair has 360 degree swiveling wheels, multi-dimensional armrests (can move in many directions), and a height-adjustable seat. In addition, there is a 90-135 degree tilting mechanism so that you can even lay down in the chair.

Finally, there is a removable neck and lumbar pillow for added support.

Performance

Besides being one of the best-built chairs on the market, DXRacer Formula series is incredible comfortable. When comparing the Formula vs cheaper gaming chairs, it is very obvious where other chairs cheap out. The building materials, construction and overall quality is superb.

We recently built the YOLEO gaming chair, and comparing it to the DXRacer is interesting. The seating cushion is significantly stiffer, but some may appreciate that. While actually putting the chair together, the DXRacer was much easier and came out less squeaky.

Finally, the overall product (DXRacer) is much more refined. It is incredibly secure and well-built.

Secret Lab OMEGA Series

Next up is the Secret Lab OMEGA Gaming Chair. This is the next-generation of gaming chair and since birth, has had incredible growth.

OMEGA Features

Firstly, Secretlab Chairs are designed to be incredibly comfortable for long hours of gaming and work (source). They use patent-pending Secretlab Cold-Cure Foam Mix. This foam is designed to provide amazing support and comfort.

Additionally, they use a full-length backrest for a completely ergonomic fit. Similar to the DXRacer, the Secretlab OMEGA also has multiple points of adjustability (armrests, multi-tilt, and backrest). The armrests use strong metal points that have superior durability and customization.

For upholstery, they use either Secretlab’s PRIME 2.0 Leather, or SoftWeave Fabric. Both are very good. But, our favorite was the Leather.

The PRIME Leather is engineered to be 4 times more durable than regular PU leather, and has a signature plush feel. In addition, the SoftWeave Fabric is dense yarn and ultra-soft fluffy textures. It is also extremely durability and breathable.

Finally, Secretlab gaming chairs also include their signature Memory Foam pillows for lumbar and neck support. They are coated with cooling gel to help you stay cool and comfy while gaming all day.

They feature a 2-year warranty with an optional 5-year warranty available.

Secret Lab vs DXRacer: Which Should You Buy?

So, which gaming chair should you purchase: DXRacer vs Secret Lab? Well, to us, the choice isn’t as simple as pick one or the other.

There are a lot of factors to consider.

When comparing the gaming chairs side-by-side, it might seem like the Secret Lab OMEGA series comes out on top. But, once again, it’s not that simple. When you compare pricing (Formula ~ $280-320, OMEGA ~ $360-400), it becomes a lot more complicated.

You really need to consider if paying $80-100 more is worth having a slightly better build quality and components. For us, it is absolutely worth it. There is also a VICTORAGE gaming chair that we found to be a great competitor and option as well.

Final Verdict

In conclusion, there are several great gaming chairs out there. When you compare Secret Labs vs DXRacer it can be a tough comparison because they are very different. Each company has their own strengths and weaknesses. And, they have several chair models to compare.

We only compared the OMEGA vs Formula Series, but if it were us we’d go with the OMEGA series for just a few dollars more. Totally worth it in the long run.
